Procedures perorfmed in Estetica - Prosthodontics
Prosthodontics Prosthodontics deals with the reconstruction of the lost teeth tissues by means of inlays, onlays and crowns, and first of all by replacing the missing teeth. Thanks to state-of-the-art procedures and a high standard of prosthetics works we enable to restore a beautiful and complete smile. In our centre we make implant-supported crowns, bridges, partial dentures: framework skeleton dentures, claspless dentures, overdentures and complete dental prostheses replacing all missing teeth.
Lack of dental crown Vast damage to a dental crown, but a preserved root - e.g. caused by a fracture as a result of trauma or decay requires a prosthetic crown provision. In dead teeth (in order to strengthen the root) it is necessary to make a crown-root inlay which is cemented inside the tooth crown. The cemented pin inside the root can be white - of the glass fiber with a composite. It can be metal - steel and gold. We fit a porcelain crown only onto such inlay. In case of crowns made on labial teeth (incisors and canines) we choose most often metal-free porcelain crowns - Empress or Finesse. They are more aesthetically appealing. We can make classic porcelain crowns bonded to metal (steel or gold). On cheek teeth we most often make porcelain crowns bonded to metal (higher durability). Instead of steel of gold we can nowadays use white, translucent, but of metal durability material - zirconium oxide.

Bridges A bridge is a device used to fill the space if one or more teeth are missing. A bridge includes a few porcelain crowns connected with each other. It is cemented onto natural teeth adjacent to a dental gap. We use porcelain bridges bonded to metal (steel or gold) and also all-ceramic (metal-free) bridges in the anterior segment. The false tooth is made of acrylic, the remaining part are metal clasps with which the denture 'holds' not only the neighboring teeth but also shifts pressure arising during chewing on them. Thanks to it skeleton dentures cause considerably smaller gum atrophy than functionally unstable dentures. However, fastening clasps can be visible. Therefore, due to aesthetic reasons we often make so called claspless dentures. Instead of clasps they have got brackets, studs, bolts or so called telescopic crowns which help hold firmly in the oral cavity. The above fastening elements are on the prosthetic crowns of the teeth. Implants, to which special studs are screwed, have similar function. Dentures made in this way hold firmly in place.

Dentures Acrylic dentures are gradually falling into disuse for a number of disadvantages: - small durability, a gradual atrophy of the alveoral process due to a pressure of hard material - metal clasps abrading the teeth, being unaesthetic. Nowadays we use them mainly in cases of a complete lack of teeth. A novelty are nylon prostheses - a denture plate is made of a soft material and the clasps are translucent. The prosthesis is comfortable to use, do not cause the damage to natural teeth or gums and periodontal bones. These are dentures where the unaesthetic clasps are eliminated. These prostheses are used when many teeth are missing, in a very severe abrasion of natural teeth and in anodontia (after using implants). The prosthesis is made of acrylic, without visible clasps, replaces all missing (or abraded) teeth and it is supported on special axial studs on either the roots of own teeth or on the inserted implants, possibly metal caps, magnets or telescopes. A prosthesis on telescopic crowns is a special type of prosthesis - over-denture. After a proper polishing or application of crown-root inlay the natural tooth is covered with a gold cap fitting tightly (so called inner telescope), the other cap (so called outer telescope) is covered by a light hardened composite and constitutes an integral part of the prosthesis. The inner and outer telescope are fitted with each other precisely and guarantee denture stability. It is at the same time a very aesthetic solution and decisively surely more beneficial for the preserved teeth in the oral cavity than many other systems based on clasps.

Dental implants Instead of a crown a missing tooth can be replaced with an implant. After a titanic screw has been implanted into the jawbone, we screw a 'post' on it - a core of the crown (may be all-ceramic, or of steel) and we fit a prosthetic crown onto it..

Prosthodontics nowadays Nowadays prosthetics is a branch of dentistry specializing in not only treating the patients with dental lacks. A prosthodontist treats such disease units as: minor orthodontic disorders, temporomandibular joints disorders and premature occlusal contacts. Defects of temporomandibular joint are most common. Patients with a pain the temple area come to our Dental Centre. If after an analysis of the occlusal conditions a patient is qualified for prosthetic treatment, then most often we make for him/her an individual orthodontic appliance called a relaxing splint (first soft, then hard). Treatment involves placing the splint on teeth overnight and lasts 6-18 months.
